Slick your hair, snap your braces or slip on your little black dress. Tastevin is French to the hilt, from wine and cocktails to waiters, music and the bistro attached to the bar. The only thing that’s not French about it is the Kartell tables. The room is simple, softly lit and is taken up by 1920s art-deco posters along the walls and black leather arm chairs. After sinking down into one of them and ordering from a most welcoming French waiter, you're almost too comfortable. Do not be surprised if you find yourself still in this exact position when the clock strikes 2am and it’s time to move on. But whether it’s an apertif, a night-long sitting with a bottle of vin rouge or a late night session, wine is always where Tastevin sits most comfortable. A quantity of French regions are covered including Bordeaux, Bourgogne, Loire Valley, and Alsace, offered by the glass or bottle. Otherwise there’s always a Kir Royal.

A friend very generously booked Tastevin for his birthday. We had the private room and everything was excellent. From the Kiroyale on arrival to the gnocchi with mushroom (so soft), the steak (melt in your mouth), the incredible crepe suzette (yummy), the service and the wine, you couldn't praise it all enough. Go, you will love it.
