Although it's not acknowledged publically, the Irish are fond of feeding new mothers pints of Guinness to restore their iron reserves - no wonder they call this black velvet "Mothers Milk".

Although there's a three-course meal in every pint, once you've enjoyed a feed here, you will understand why Harrigan's has won Best Country Bistro. Daily chalkboard specials go quickly, with the Beef and Guinness Pie, wood-fired pizzas and tender, char-grilled steaks heading the list. Diners can eat indoors or in the fantastic outdoor area overlooking the vineyards, which is great for families. Order from the a-la-carte Irish/Australian menu or enjoy your choice of succulent meat cooked by our chefs on the char-grill, a unique feature in the Hunter Valley.

More than one Harrigan's visitor has decided they're having so much fun they want (or are required by DUI laws) to stay the night.
