The end of Manly Beach hosts the neighbourhood's pinnacle wine experience. Manly Wine by Gazebo is a bizarre cultural mishmash: of a morning you might see surfers eating brunch, yummy-mummies catching up over seafood and bubbly; and local wine buffs poring over wines cheekily listed in categories such as “Slurpable”, “Opulent”, “Unpronounceable” and “Pink Bits”. The interior is a sporadic mix of stuffed peacocks on swings, pot plants hanging from the ceiling and mismatched seats. There's even a stone cherub blowing a kiss at the bar area. But it works, as if some sort of dreamlike, tropical garden party. The cocktail list is basic, favouring the fruity and refreshing - try the Aperitivo Time. Fish and chips comes with tartare and mushy peas and served in newspaper in a metal basket – a nice touch. Some say it's Manly's best. If you feel game, go for a “Mysterious Red”, such as the plummy, savoury Dal Zotto 2008 sangiovese.
