Another great Modern Australian restaurant opens north of the bridge
Alex Kearns has brought the charm of Glebe Point Diner across the bridge to the now thriving Neutral Bay Bar & Dining. But unlike GPD, this one has its own proper bar with a full list of cocktails. Sadly, they’ve scrapped the bar snacks, but you can order anything from the a la carte menu and they’ll bring it out to the bar for you. Open and airy, it’s great for people watching here, with sleek wooden booths running along the sides. Or pull up a stool and have a chat with the bartender about how Neutral Bay is experiencing something of a bar revolution. The use of tiling gives the space a European ambience, which is echoed in the selection of fancy smallgoods on offer, like jars of vanilla sugar and chilli oil. Two walls of wine house over 100 different drops, with a thoughtful and ever-changing selection. The shelled peanuts (gratis) should keep you going until dinnertime, at which point we recommend you head out back to try some of Kearns’ finest diner fare.
