Serious about tequila? You’ll need to pay a visit to Miss Marley’s

If you’re after a recipe for fun, we’ve always found it pretty tough to beat daggy tunes and great drinks. Tequila helps too. Luckily, you get all three here at this fun-sized temple to tequila. On the food front, you can get South American bar snacks like empanadas, croquettas, salt-cod fritters and ceviche. Feeling adventurous? You could always opt for the ‘Trust the Chef’ menu and just see what appears from the kitchen. But who has time for food when the drinks are this good? To really get a taste for agave in all its majesty, start with a flight. You get three 20ml serves that begin with a light and easy blanco tequila and finish with a bitey, golden mescal. It might be about here that you kick back with a refreshing Paloma (the popular Mexican mixed drink sees Don Fuliano tequila topped with grapefruit soda and lime juice) or a spicy Rattlesnake (ginger, honey, lime, tequila and Grand Marnier) while ‘Master Blaster’ and ‘Bamboleo’ blare from the speakers. If tequila really isn’t your thing, it’s definitely worth giving it another whirl here. Trust us: there’s a big difference between what they’re slinging here and the ominously red-hatted Sierra of high-school nightmares. But if you remain unswayed, they also stock your standard spirits. While you can get something with Scotch, vodka or bourbon in it, they keep them off to the side above the fridges. ¡Viva México!
