A lot is made about the location of Solas. Being positioned at the not-yet-gentrified Cleveland Street end of Crown Street gives Solas some guiding light status - a chance at being a beacon before the bridge-and-tunnel crowd swell down the strip. A privledged position for a fledging bar indeed. The wine list offers some decent pickings, swinging from comforts and boutique Australian producers through to some deft Euro imports, and the food is well executed, with all your garden variety tapas favourites on offer. Street art adorns the walls and recycled materials feature in the decor. The crew manning the deep list of imported and local beers, popping out mixed drinks and sloshing wine, are affable, cheery and fun.
