Great drinks. Great food. Great location. Scratch that. We should have led with location, because that’s the real selling point of the 'Point. Formerly the Point, the pub (we use the term loosely as the venue comes equipped with a couple of cocktail bars too) sits just up the road from Blackwattle Bay and makes the most of it with a killer verandah. Inside, there’s an impressive bistro serving the likes of minty pumpkin risotto with goat's cheese and slow-cooked beef cheeks on parsnip mash. The wine and cocktail menus are equally impressive, and White Rabbit and Pipsqueak make for interesting tap offerings for those that want to opt for beer. Head to one of the hotel’s four bars and get started with a classic Caprioska to sip on the balcony. When the temperature drops, head for the open fireplace and crack a bottle of Pirathon Shiraz. This is our hands-down pick of the Pyrmont pubs.
