It’s stylish, has a decent wine list, serves a good range of bar food and doesn’t always attract Bondi’s ‘want to be scene’ set. No wonder it can be hard to get a table at the Crossing most nights of the week. Order up some duck liver pâté, half a dozen oysters and a glass of the 2010 Jim Barry ‘The Lodge Hill’ Riesling or the Rockstar Margarita with Patron Silver, and watch the locals cruise on by. It’s set back up on O’Brien Street, not on the main drag - which is not such a bad thing, especially in winter, when you can get cosy out the back with a bottle of the 2008 Kangarilla Road cabernet sauvignon from McLaren Vale. For what you get, the cocktails aren’t the best value at the Crossing, so instead our call is absolutely a bottle of red - or two.
