The Crown Street Clock has been ticking away for years now but the pub has remained more or less the same since the late-90s megapub heyday. There's the enticing verandah, the sprawling street-level bar, the upstairs cocktail bar, and pool tables, juke box and big screen out the back. You could spend an entire day in the Clock Hotel. Everyone could. And that’s pretty much who they’re catering to. The bistro menu (available in every bar) and cocktail list (available in the Balcony Bar) certainly don’t discriminate. Share some tapas. Have a burger. Grab a pizza or pasta. Careful with the sides though: the creamed potato comes with truffle oil. To really enjoy the Clock, get there early on a sunny day, grab a schooner or a bottle of something and get a spot on the balcony away from the smokers. As the sun begins to set and the deck fills up, practice looking smug. You’re the envy of Crown Street.
