His latest book, Emergency: This Book Will Save Your Life, will, in all likelihood, do just that. In our pre-apocalyptic world, Strauss argues, it can't hurt to know how to walk and talk like a man, or how to evade a pursuant vehicle. Part survivalist handbook and part non-fiction novel, Emergency might not equip you with skills so much as scare you into knowing you need to learn some.
