At first we thought that the title of this festival was a
metaphor: express to party town, or some such. We were wrong. The Bacardi
Express is an actual train. Tracks, carriages and train conductor: the real
deal.
Over 48 hours five bands will tour up the east coast of
Australia in a classic 1960s train, stopping in Brisbane, Coffs Harbour,
Newcastle and finally Sydney to play one-night only exclusive concerts. UK popstress La Roux has taken out the headline spot and they will be joined by a sweet set of supports.
Sydney elec-trio Art vs Science will be kicking out their
hits 'Flippers' and 'Hollywood' while on board. Cassette Kids, the Sydney band
who took out Triple J Unearthed in 2008, will be joining them to pedal their
punky pop tunes up the east coast. Miami Horror will board as a four-piece to
add a dancier element to proceedings and indie-with-a-touch-of-country act Yves
Klein Blue, fresh from a tour of the UK and with their debut album still warm
from last year's pressing, will jump aboard too.
Live music, kitsch travel and extremely limited tickets. We'd advise enquiring about this one sooner rather than later. All aboard! Erin Moy
