Starfuckers

Club 77 evokes mixed feelings, from the 3am line-up to the 6am exit. Boys who liked girls who liked girls and pre-Modular Bang Gang DJs called the dungeon home. Now, with the graduation of that crew to the Flinders, 77's most popular indie night comes in the form of teen battleground Starfuckers. The dance floor hosts a neon revolution with beats courtesy of Mr Disorder, Hookie and Donnie Blood.

Think Lycra, slogan t-shirts, Ksubi and gender irrelevant eyeliner.

Club 77 Kings Cross

Purple Sneakers presents Last Night

For the last six years Purple Sneakers has been the go to spot for hipsters to get their party on. Playing a combination of indie hits, ironic pop and mash-ups, it pioneered the non-electro dance party for those of us that didn’t really dig fluro. After the gloriously sticky Abercrombie Hotel was marked for redevelopment, Sneakers found a temporary home at the Gladstone Hotel in Redfern, before settling on the newly refurbished Gaelic Club. Now 'Sneakers has decided to take things to the next level. In addition to all your favourite party tunes – not to mention $4 cans of Fosters – you can now catch some of the best new and upcoming indie acts and the entry price is still just $10.

Think Plaid shirts, slip on sneakers, glo-mesh, red lipstick, scarves on men.

The Gaelic Surry Hills

Falcona Fridays

Holding up the glam end of Indie, Falcona Fridays boasts great local DJs like Anna Lunoe, Nina Las Vegas and Gloves and the odd glass of free bubbles thrown in for good measure. It happens across two levels of Kit & Kaboodle and guarantees a sore head and feet in the morning.

Think Bubbles straight from the bottle, wobble on the soundsystem, crooped tees and girl-on-girl pashes.

Kit & Kaboodle Kings Cross

Mum

Represents a palatable mix of live music and dance tunes born in the second wave of Sydney indie. Hosted by nightlife staple World Bar, it has plenty of seating, friendly staff and eclectic bands and DJs.

Think Indie kids, lasses on wine, lads with boutique beers, teapot cocktails.

World Bar Kings Cross

Hot Damn!

Rounds up Sydney's hottest indie bands, drawing a daring Thursday night crowd. Cheap as chips, it provides a mix of the avant garde and atypical with reasonable drinks. You may be calling in sick on Friday.

Think Packed dance floors, 3am singalongs, MySpace photo posers and house wine by the bottle.

Spectrum Darlinghurst

Frat House

This student-heavy weekly boasts some of the cheapest drinks in town and DJs playing classic house party mash-up tunes.

Think Hip hop dance-offs, frat cups and that cute guy from your philosophy class.

202 Broadway Chippendale

P*A*S*H

DJs and bands join forces for a wild night of indie and retro, and entry is an easy five bones.

Think Surry Hills types, indie kids, cheap drinks and cheap fun.

Q Bar Darlinghurst

Slow Blow

Indie kids getting down to disco at the ultimate indie kid hangout, GoodGod Small Club. Dreamcatcher and Jungle Snake keep them moving until the wee hours every month.

Think Fashion kids, throw-back disco moves and walking home at daybreak.

Q Bar Darlinghurst

Wham!

Every Saturday night The World Bar is jam-packed with indie kids ready to throw serious shapes on the dancefloor. The DJs are on the more dancey end of the clubbing spectrum, but they now how to remix an indie anthem or two.

Think American Apparel, teapot cocktails, flat shoes and Northern Beaches kids.

The World Bar Kings Cross

We Love Indie

A rotating list of DJs playing all your favourite alternative hits (think Stone Roses, Cure, Blur, Bowie, Arctic Monkeys, Pixies, Wombats, New Order, Hives etc and you'll be on the right track), with drinks specials and album giveaways.

Think Double denim, eyes-closed singalongs and free albums!
