1 Ivy
Justin Hemmes' playground for the rich and glamorous has some of the best options for outdoor clubbing in Sydney. The main bar, home to its weekly ‘Pure ivy' night, features a spacious dancefloor, several bars and no roof, meaning you can dance beneath the stars when the sun goes down. If you're lucky enough to get to the roof, the ivy's infamous pool provides a place to aqua-boogie when the weather gets too hot.
2 Chinese Laundry
Those familiar with the 'Laundry have probably already spent a sweaty night or two in its three club rooms. However, the return of sunshine means that partying is once again possible in the garden bar and their Garden Party series is back, featuring some of the best Australian and International artists to get you going wild in the afternoon sun.
3 Greenwood Hotel
Clubbers north of the bridge have been swarming to the Greenwood for years – no surprise considering it has hosted some of the biggest names in dance music. Even though the sadly missed Sounds on Sunday has wrapped up, the Greenie still plays host to parties that make use of its enormous courtyard, such as Twilight Sounds coming up on Sunday 14 November.
4 The Roxy
Built in the shell of the former Roxy Theatre, the Roxy is one of Parramatta's finest venues for a good night out. In addition to a number of rooms throughout the building, the Roxy boasts a large courtyard that plays host throughout spring and summer to huge dance parties, as well as end of week of chillout sessions with DJs spinning laidback funk.
5 Clambake
Sometimes a party is too wild to be contained by walls and roof. Clambake is underground party run by the brains behind Health Club, held during the warm months of the year. Taking place on various beaches around Sydney, Clambake has set the standard for special events, with enthusiastic attendees reporting entire nights spent grooving on the sand under the stars. It operates under secrecy, so you'll have to sign up to their mailing list to get wind of the next shindig.
