Sydney’s favourite small club has now opened a small bar. Goodgod Front Bar is the club bar you’ve been waiting for – if only for the fact that it looks like a proper 1960s nightclub where the ladies have their hair up and the gents carry combs in their front pockets. It could also be a bar from The Flintstones: high, roughly hewn white booths look like they’ve been carved by the Slate Rock and Gravel Company. There’s neon a go-go, not to mention ferns and palm fronds. And the DJ booth has a set of Venetian blinds. You can imagine that if the DJ gets an offensive song request they could just shut up shop. Cocktails are not really executed with skill but there’s an entire list of them by the jug, including a Mint Julep and the Pat Ca$h Coolah. Mind you, it’s pretty awesome that it comes on its own drinks tray with a stirring rod and metal beakers. Most single cocktails on the list will set you back around $12 – and you get what you pay for. The Nashijack (Laird’s Applejack on the rocks with a slice of nashi pear) is a fuss-free booze option. Drinks-wise, we’d stick to beer. But hey, chances are you’re here for the dancing (and possibly DJ Levins’ bar food) and the general raucous fun till 5am.
