Does it feel a little bittersweet seeing the end of the
road for One Man Star Wars? Well, I never call it the end of the road because frankly I never knew when it
was really going to begin. I guess I could jump the gun and say that it's the
very, very end but it keeps coming back. It's sort of like, I don't want to
say, it's like a hickey that keeps coming back or a bruise. As much as I may
plan for this to be my last foray here with Star Wars, you just never know. So
it's bittersweet, but maybe it's also living life in denial somewhat.
Of course, now you have a fresh new trilogy - but surely
it was a nightmare getting the OK to do One Man Lord of the Rings? Well, it wasn't so much a nightmare
as much as it was a very, very long sleep. Things went really smoothly in the
beginning and then things started getting troublesome for the big players in
the game, so I was sort of shelved for quite a long time. I guess the fortune
that I had was that there was Star Wars to sustain me through for all the
years, performing that and touring, that so it didn't cost me a lot other than
perhaps a bit of patience to just wait.
And it's the entire three films? Yes, it's just me doing all three films - except
this time it's 12 hours of film as opposed to eight hours of film so it's getting
even more and more reduced. The nice thing about doing only an hour's worth of
12 hours is that maybe I can make an alternative version of the One Man Lord
of the Rings and then combine the two and have it be a two-hour One
Man Lord of the Rings.
That would kill you, surely? It would be annihilating, but
it would be good for a one-night show. I'd charge a million dollars a ticket
and die at the end, but at least all my family will be looked after.
You wouldn't die at the end necessarily, just go to the
Grey Havens... Exactly, I'd be going to the West. Which would be what, Perth? Andrew P Street
