British comedian Daniel Kitson has audiences laughing till they cry

There isn’t much that can be said about Kitson’s talent that hasn’t been said before. Since the inception of his career, the eccentric UK comic has been repeatedly described as a genius. Despite our penchant for breaking the mold, Time Out has to agree. After the small but intimate theatre piece he presented last year at the Seymour Centre, Kitson’s Aussie fan-base has exploded exponentially - we can see why. The show, a more traditional stand-up performance, was split into three evenly weighted stories taken from Kitson’s own life. These tales where used as a framing device, allowing Kitson to wax lyrical about his opinions on life, comedy and the media; all interlaced with some of the most riotous one-liners we’ve heard in a long time. Kitson’s mellifluous control of language, impeccable timing and frankly hilarious face combined to give the audience and insight into the comic’s complex and slightly twisted life. This show marked an especially notable feat by Kitson: he managed to pull off an incredible piece of conceptual trickery that left the audience gasping for more. We’d explain it to you but it would ruin all the fun plus… we'd probably fail miserably. Kitson’s hyper-intellectual comedy might not prove to be everyone’s cup of tea but Time Out urges anyone game to have a go. Conclusion: Mind. Blown.
