Time Out meets Yana Novak

Model-actress Yana Novak is a celebrity in her native Serbia, a rising star in her spiritual home Los Angeles and something of a YouTube sensation.

As fans of her unique style and take on the world, Time Out invited Yana to come on board as a guest contributor, with hopes of generating 'exciting new video content'. Links to Yana's videos are below.

Time Out's arts editor Darryn King found himself catching up with Yana on the steps of the Sydney Opera House.

Yana, it's very nice to meet you. Welcome to Sydney. You're looking well today.
Thanks you. I do much fun exercise which you can see on my YouTube exercise video [see below]. I take care of stomach, butt, one arm and other arm, and so my whole body is fit and look tone.

Okay. First of all, tell our readers about yourself.
I am model for fashion and costume from Serbia. My job is to make in front of camera different positions. I used to be actress so I have ability to model any feeling or character.

I read somewhere that you starred in some Serbian films.
Yes, you read on my website Darryn [pronounced 'Dar-een']. I start my career in Late Night Television Adult Entertainment in Belgrade. This is multi-country distribution for adult movies and I am popular in Serbia, Russia, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldavia and Iceland.

I grow up on farm with my family in Serbia so I have much freedom of spirit and love of nature. I wish to become world famous Playboy model and use my grace and wealthy to help people who are poor and unhappy.

Of course I am happy to help because I am very good at make videos that people love to watch. And I am very exciting to see new place and meet new people.

Where are you staying, by the way?
Liverpool. I am living with Serbian family as guest. This area is not good for my work. Many people are from Muslim and not appreciate my style and sexy figure. But I am here because in LA there is not appreciation for real beauty like me. Struggle is part of life and make people strong. So I am happy to be experience some struggle.

What are your impressions of Australia so far?
I love to party and here many people love to party also. But I am confuse about where are all the Australian people. In Liverpool there is many Serbian and Muslim. In Auburn many Iraq and Turkey. In city many English and white. Where is Aboriginal man here? I love black man and was hope to see many of them because this is their country. I think it is not polite they all hide somewhere and make white people work so hard to represent them. They own this country. They should come out and say hello to all the guests who come here to make it fun. Hello black man? Where are you?

And what do you think of our Sydney Opera House?
Opera House is fantastic work of art! I love metaphor in art, and Opera House is so important because of Captain Cook. He discover this country and it is representing of the white blade that Aboriginal people use to fight him. They make this blade from bone of kangaroo. It is good reminding for people who try to come into this country by boat that they will be stabbed with this blade and it will scare them away. They should come by airplane.

And the men in Sydney?
In city there is many gay, but they are fun for party!

But in Bondi they are best because they tell me that I have sexy figure and they want to make love with me. But if they have wife I tell them no. You must be good with your wife. And when they say she is not sexy like me, I encourage for them to talk with her, to pray to accept her, and suggest for her to do my exercise video to get fit. It is great for looking sexy.

I believe last year you went to great efforts to try to meet Hugh Hefner at the Playboy Mansion. Any Aussie celebrities you'd like to meet during your visit?
Hugo Weaving I wish to meet because he is movie star who work with Laurence Fishburne [pronounced 'Fish-bourne']. Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett is only other famous Australian person I hear about. But they are not interesting. He is already have wife so I can not make with him family and she is old without botox and not look after her wrinkles. But I think Australian people do not work hard enough to be famous. To be famous in the world it take much hard work and Australian people are ‘chill out’. So I do not know any famous Australian. Perhaps I will meet while I am working for Time Out.
