The Russian Resurrection Film Festival, returning to Sydney for its seventh year, will showcase the finest new films to capture the essence of Russia, past and present.
As always the festival will feature a diverse range of movies and topics, from political satires to grand dramas to comedies and more.
Leading the charge this year is festival opener Man at the Window, a romantic comedy directed by Dmitry Meskhiev that has been getting great reviews from critics around the world.
In addition to the list of new cinema, the festival is also marking the 65th anniversary of the end of WWII with a selection of classic Russian war films, revealing a different historical perspective of the conflict. Included in this programme are Palme d’Or winner The Cranes Are Flying (1957), a remastered version of They Fought the Motherland (1975) and the great Andre Tarkovsky’s first feature, Ivan's Childhood (1962).
