In its second year as a stand-alone festival, the Sydney International Animation Festival returns to the University of Technology, Sydney, 24-26 September 2010.

Featuring the latest highlights of world animation, the UTS: SIAF 10 will also be host to the first SIAF Symposium and the Festival TEEN JURY, as well as feature films, international guests, the finalists from the SIXTY40 Proto-ninja Nationwide Animation Competition and lots more.

The event kicks off on Friday 24 September with the SIAF Symposium - an all-day event that brings together researchers, animators, and industry practitioners from the full spectrum of animation practice. University of Technology, Sydney (City Campus), Building 6 (Peter Johnson Building), Lvl 7, 702-730 Harris St, Ultimo 2007. Fri 24 Sep 8.30am-5.30pm. $12.80-$74.20.

Then over the weekend are two days’ worth of screenings; one-day or two-day passes are available. This year’s films are headed by the graphic novelist Shaun Tan, presenting The Lost Thing and discussing the evolution of the project from his original book to award-winning film.

This year’s Oscar winner for Best Animated Short, Logorama, is screening, as is Mathieu Bergeron and Yves Martel's animated documentary, A Thorn in the Mind - a rare insight into the creative processes of six internationally renowned animators.
