Sydney Olympic Park’s popular alfresco cinema series, Movies by the Boulevard, will return for its 11th year of freee entertainment under the stars, on various nights in January 2012.
A highlight on Sydney Olympic Park’s summer events calendar, the programme will commence on Saturday 7 January and feature 12 nights of film screened at Cathy Freeman Park (opposite ANZ Stadium) on Olympic Boulevard.
Movies by the Boulevard will showcase a spectrum of genres to please all movie buffs. The series will culminate on Sunday 22 January with Short Soup, a menu of short films from a diverse range of cultures rarely seen in mainstream cinema.
Movies will commence on the big-screen at 8.30pm each night, and a range of food and beverages will be available for purchase at Cathy Freeman Park from 6pm. Attendees can also choose from more than 30 restaurants and cafes across Sydney Olympic Park and home-packed picnics, cushions and low-chairs are welcome at Movies by the Boulevard.
From 5pm on eight selected event family-nights, parents will get to kick back and relax while the kids are kept busy with a fun range of pre-movie activities, presented by the Starlight Children’s Foundation. Movie-goers will have the opportunity to make a gold-coin donation to the charity.
Movies by the Boulevard is officially Australia’s best-attended outdoor cinema series on a nightly basis and has entertained hundreds of thousands of movie-lovers since its inaugural season.
