Sydney Cult Cinema launches with a cult screening of Will Ferrell’s finest

First came Lebowski Bash: a massively successful screening of The Big Lebowski that drew over 670 fans of the Coen Brothers’ cult comedy.

Now entrepreneur and former usher Ron Tucker is launching Sydney Cult Cinema – a series of screenings of classic films at the Randwick Ritz and the Cremorne Orpheum.

The series kicks off with Anchorman… APALOOZA! at the Ritz on Friday June 15. At 8pm there’ll be live jazz (with plenty of playful flute), a ’70s costume contest (anyone not wearing a moustache loses instantly, women included), door prizes, and at 9pm a screening of Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.

“The aim of the Sydney Retro Cinema is to get film lovers from all over Sydney to come together and celebrate the film in true retro style,” says the other Ron, Ron Tucker. “We’re kicking off with Anchorman…APALOOZA! but we’ve got other classics such as Breakfast at Tiffany’s, The Godfather, Grease sing-a-long and Star Trek in the pipeline.”
