James Dean, Head On and a Gayby...

Celebrating 20 years of the awesomeness that is Queer Screen in Sydney, the film fest is pulling it out big time this year. We’re frothing for 2012 critical dah-ling, Gayby, about a couple of besties – she’s straight, he’s gay – who decide to make a baby, and for the retrospective screening of Head On, Australia’s seminal queer film. Also at the top our list: Struck by Lightning with Glee’s Chris Colfer, Christina Hendricks, Allison Janney and Rebel Wilson (yay!) and black-and-white drama Joshua Tree 1951: A Portrait of James Dean, playing Friday February 15.

The opening night gala is A Liar's Autobiography: The Untrue Story of Monty Python's Graham Chapman in 3D. Chapman was an alcoholic comic genius who happened to be gay. The film tribute contains animations from 14 different film studios.
