At just 26, Josh Trank is ready to unleash his first blockbuster. Trank, who’s been working in Hollywood since the age of 15, recently posted a YouTube mock-home video that created quite a buzz, Stabbing at Leia’s 22nd Birthday – one for the Star Wars fans. Now, alongside screenwriter Max Landis, Trank has written and directed a sure-fire hit for the masses. Chronicle is a “mock-doc” that follows three high-school students who, after discovering a mysterious hole in the ground, realise they’ve developed telekinetic superpowers. Time Out’s Emma Joyce interviews Trank along with the movie’s star, Australian actor Alex Russell.

Chronicle screens from Thu 2 Feb
