When the Mardi Gras parade and party split last year, it was the biggest divorce shock to hit the nation since Warwick and Leanne Capper called it quits. Asking parade punters to go home and have a hot Milo instead of partying on seemed like a gay hate crime.
Well, Sydney, Mardi Gras tradition prevails in 2011 as this year the super couple that is parade and party night are back in the sack on the same night and feeling the love.
March, shimmy or strut your ass off as a parade entrant or cheer for queers on the sideline as the parade that spreads queer magic across our city makes its way up the golden mile. Dykes on bikes, twinks on skates and muscle Marys struggling to walk due to oversized thighs will promote gay goodness across the parade, while our surprise Chief of Parade will open the festivities in style.
After the last float signifies the end of the rainbow, do a Lionel Ritchie and party all night long at the Entertainment Quarter, where a surprise line-up of international guests, performers and DJs as well as our best drag talent will keep the queer fires burning.
The 2011 Mardi Gras Party DJ line-up has been revealed and it looks like a corker of a spin-fest.
From the anthemic Royal Hall of Industries through to the deep, dark and tribal sounds of the Dome, Mardi Gras Party is out to serve up a little something for just about everyone.
