In a world first, the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation and the Australian Jockey Club are bringing high camp and pageantry to the Royal Randwick stands at The Pink Stiletto Race day, part of their ongoing fundraising efforts.
Punters will be dusting off their tiaras and tails and heading down to the race day, where the horses won't be the only ones taking to the field. As well as the opportunity to have a flutter on your favourite filly, you’ll be able to back a drag queen of your choosing, who will be taking part in a dash to be awarded the title of The Pink Stiletto Queen.
A race day would not be complete without high fashion and to give the day that extra edge, fashion spotters will be on hand to scrutinise race goers for their chance to win one of three styling categories: Best Dressed Male, Best Dressed Female and of course, Best Costume.
Cool down in one of the Champagne and Cocktail Bars and listen to tunes with DJs getting you in to the party mood for the day and the weeks ahead.
Leading the charge will be Australia’s queen of racing, Gai Waterhouse, who is The Pink Stiletto Ambassador.
“I’m delighted to be ‘coming out’ at the Pink Stiletto race day and joining the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation in what will be the world’s first gay race day,” said Ms Waterhouse.
Show your support and add this event to your pre-Mardi Gras warm-up and take the chance to rub shoulders, if your heels are high enough, with Sydney’s fashion elite.
