Every day is a bad hair day for Cinderella until a glamorous goddess fills her handbag with magic. This fabulous puppet journey has won awards worldwide for its quirky re-imagining of the classic tale and promises to have Sydney small fry wriggling with glee this Easter.

Olga Volt: The Electric Fairy  13-14 April Olga Volt is about unleash her dazzling circus sideshow on Sydney, retelling the extraordinary story of her family via puppetry, object manipulation, original music and engaging yarn-spinning.

Sydney Royal Easter Show 1-14 Apr
It's the ultimate kids' activity of the Easter season, with pig jumping, chicken washing, rides, show bags and much more. Check out our interview with the show's spectacular fire-breathing centrepiece and the must-see of the Easter event on p.28!  

Hoopla Festival 2-5 Apr
Trapeze artists, acrobats, technicolour and comedy... hours of awe will ensue at this free Darling Harbour festival. See our preview, p.30.

Free activities at Sydney University 6-14 Apr
Learn about Greek mythology and dress up like a god or goddess as part of Ancient Greek Myths at the Nicholson Museum, explore the Yolŋu culture of Arnhem Land at the Macleay Museum or create modern art works inspired by the University Art Gallery's Mirror Mirror... exhibition.

Powerhouse Museum 2-18 Apr
Sydney's most child-friendly museum has a great range of activities on offer during the holiday break. There is music, video, theatre and science workshops and storytelling sessions as well as Cog's playground and Zoe's interactive play space. More iformation at Powerhouse Museum.

Kids in the Park 2-18 Apr
There will be a slew of activities on offer at Olympic Park. Great free activities include scavenger hunts, bike trails, art exhibits and sports, while ticketed workshops include circus skills, craft, filmmaking and archery.

Amazing Backyard Adventures Until 18 Apr
The school holidays will be your last chance to catch Amazing Backyard Adventures, a hands-on exhibition about the science in your own backyard, at the Australian Museum. Aimed at 5-12 year olds, the exhibition features 18 interactive exhibits and touchscreen games.

Kids at the Library 7-17 Apr
Sydney's inner-city libraries will be hosting a range of activities relating to cherished kids' books. Why not check out the Alice in Wonderland pantomime at Surry Hills Library, participate in Manga workshops at Newtown Library, or learn origami at Waterloo Library?

Museum of Contemporary Art 8-9 Apr
Arty kids will have a ball at the MCA's holiday workshop programme. The Colour Explosion workshop will teach kids how to experiment with paint to make beautiful works of art. Classes are suitable for 5-12 year olds.

Sydney Family Show 1-14 Apr
The Entertainment Quarter will be hosting a two-week family show these school holidays. You'll find rides, animals, workshops, storytelling and circus performances and it's free!

The Burbs Festival 17 Apr
This Western Sydney youth festival forms part of National Youth Week and will feature an action-packed line-up of music, sports and arts events specially targeted at older children. Don't miss the skate demonstrations, aerosol art workshops or live entertainment at Blacktown Showground.
