To mark the 200th anniversary of Macquarie's legacy the exhibition focus is the Macquarie Lighthouse, one of the prominent buildings commissioned by him. Overlooking the gateway to Sydney Harbour from a vantage point on South Head, Macquarie lighthouse has since its activation in November 1818 been a crucial landmark for mariners making for the safety of the harbour.
