2011 is the Year of Friendship between Australia and the Republic of Korea, marking 50 years of bilateral relations. In celebration of this the Powerhouse Museum is staging an exhibition of Korean metal craft from 28 October 2011 until February 2012.
Discover Korea’s distinctive and highly creative metal craft production and the spirit of the craftsman (jang-in) as you wind your way through this exhibition. See a stunning array of objects, including Korean national treasures and contemporary pieces made by practising artists in Korea and Australia. The exhibition is a sensory journey spanning thousands of years from the Bronze Age through to the modern day.
This exhibition is supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea, National Museum of Korea, POSCO, Korea Foundation and the Korea Tourism Organisation.
