Songs for Shakespeare imaginatively combines Shakespeare-inspired music with the playwright’s finest moments in film. Scenes from cinema classics like Laurence Olivier’s Hamlet and Henry V soar on the big screen as the Sydney Philharmonia Festival Chorus and Orchestra perform a mix of well-known and rarely heard compositions penned in Shakespeare’s honour.
Songs for Shakespeare will also feature one of Australia’s most celebrated baritones, Peter Coleman-Wright and follows in the tradition of the Sydney Philharmonia's hugely popular Amadeus in 2009.
