Arthur Russell was a prolific multi-genre composer before succumbing to the AIDS virus in 1994. To celebrate the release of 'Arthur Russell: Tapes Of Thought', a radio documentary concerning his life and work, there is a day of music on Cockatoo Island, featuring live performances by Kirin J Callinan, Daniel Stricker from Midnight Juggernauts, Mark Bradshaw from Jane Campion's Bright Star, Lovely Head and Luke Bacon, playing covers of their favourite Arthur Russell tracks. In addition, DJ Ron Radge, Jaguar Paw and Strickmachine will be spinning in between acts. The event is also a fundraiser for AIDS awareness, and donations are welcome.
