She may be a one-woman show but she sure makes the sound of a choir
Imagine a mass choir of female voices singing in a hazy, mythological landscape. Then see just one woman on stage. Julianna Barwick's world is one of ghostly echoes, galactic lullabies and traditional chants. By means of loops and pedals, and occasional piano and percussion, she builds layer upon layer of abstract vocals to create her ambient folk sound.
