When Ravel decided to include the provocative sound of the saxophone in Bolero he was on to something. The saxophone was the emerging instrument of the day, but did Ravel contemplate putting it at the front of the orchestra as a soloist?

Australian composer Ross Edwards thinks that’s where the saxophone belongs, especially when it’s in the hands of virtuoso Amy Dickson, and in Full Moon Dances he once again brings his irresistible dance-chant style and instinct for theatre into the concert hall.
