Canadian period instrument group Tafelmusik generally take on classics from the past, but in 2009 bassist Alison Mackay was commissioned to create a piece to commemorate the International Year of Astronomy, out of which this celebration of the genius of Galileo (the first person to turn the telescope to the skies, y'know).
After development with the Banff Centre, stage direction by Marshall Pynkoski and production design by Glenn Davidson the Project was complete – creating this stunning combination of spoken word, images from the Hubble Space Telescope and gorgeous music played on period instruments.
