From the Histronic to Under Milk Wood, July is part of a rip-roaring season for the Sydney Theatre Company. But remember it no longer stops at plays down at the STC, and with a new month comes a new installment of the Wharf Sessions. Taking place at the Bar at the End of the Wharf, the STC's awesome new space, the free night features one great handpicked Sydney band every month. Whether you’ve taken in a play or just want to take in the view of the harbour with good food, good booze and good music, it’s one fine way to relax.

This month, Sydney artist Melodie Nelson will be warming up all the cold wintry souls. The alter ego of Lia Tsamoglou, Melodie Nelson creates slow, sultry pop tunes. Many are contained on her critically acclaimed debut album Meditations on the Sun, an hommage to '60s pop, film soundtracks and Greek mythology. If you want to do your homework before showing up, check out Melodie's new single ‘666’ on YouTube – it’s a duet with Geoffrey O’Connor (Crayon Fields, Sly Hats) and it has us rapt all over again.

With the emphasis on songwriting of a rare quality, this will be a Wharf Session to remember.
