Spotify Australia launches: music fans rejoice

The free music streaming service the world has been loving finally comes to Australia

So, your cooler American friends have been bragging for months now about a nifty piece of music-streaming software called Spotify – but what exactly is it? Well, Spotify allows you to listen to pretty much to all music that you've ever heard for free. You just need to download it and be connected to the internet.

Ah, seems like this Spotify thing is living up to its reputation.

You can also link to Facebook and see what your friends are playing, share your playlists  and even set up collaborative playlists that anyone can add tracks to.

Spotify is free but if you pay for a premium subscription then you get to sync your playlists for listening offline on your computer, iPhone, Android, Blackberry or iPad. We leave this choice to you, but you can win a premium account from Time Out.

We're huge fans at Time Out so we've already made our own Spotify playlists for you to listen to. So go ahead and subscribe because as we update the songs our lists will update in your Spotify.

What sort of witchery is this!?

Time Out weekly playlist – what we're listening to in the office.

Upcoming Sydney gigs – a selection of songs from upcoming gigs.

Vivid LIVE – songs from artists appearing at VIVID 2012.

Time Out pre-clubbing  – what we're listening to early on our way to go out late.

Readers' top tracks – collaborative list. Please add songs but don't delete
