Bourke Street Bakery

2 Mitchell St, Marrickville

Paul Allam and David McGuinness’s Surry Hills bakery is notorious for queues but fortunately there is now a third one in Marrickville where you can get your hands on the famous pork and fennel sausage rolls and crusty sourdough loaves without having to brave the hungry crowds

 Cornersmith

314 Illawarra Road, Marrickville

Cornersmith is creating quite a buzz, due in no small part to the beehives on the roof. Cornersmith maintains a staunch position on local, seasonal and ethical produce. They harvest their own honey, use free-range eggs, ham and salami and are closed on Mondays – for pickling.

Double Roasters

199 Victoria Rd, Marrickville

When it comes to cafés, Marrickville’s star is on the rise and with excellent coffee dens like Double Roasters taking up shop it is becoming a regular haunt for many of Sydney’s caffeine fiends.

Coffee Alchemy

24 Addison Rd, Marrickville

The folks at Coffee Alchemy use a cold-filter drip method then put in a soda siphon to make it fizzy. That’s right: cold. Fizzy. Coffee!

Whole Bean

38 Chapel St, Marrickville

Behind this jaunty red door is yet another Marrickville coffee temple, upping the ante on Sydney espresso with a free Space Invaders console to sweeten the deal.
