Here are the five places you should be parking your brekky bum right now

Brickfields

Chippendale

Tiny menu, small shop, no skim milk: they take their stuff seriously here and the stuff they're hawking is seriously good. You'll find some of Sydney's best bread plus delicious breakfast and lunch plates – and usually a high profile chef or two sitting down for a bite.

Copo Café and Diner

Drummoyne

This suburban café is many things to many people, and all of them good – we say go for the smoked trout, all bound together with three eggs and topped with créme fraîche.

Devon

Surry Hills

Not the county, or the lunch meat. This Devon is an inner-city café baking magic muffins and ladelling out excellent bowls of soup (it's not quiyte summer just yet!)

Great Aunty Three

Enmore

The more banh mi the better, we always say, and here the caramelised pork is slow-cooked in coconut juice. Oh Enmore, you lucky so-and-sos.

West Juliett

Marrickville

Holy mother of fresh baked treats, West Juliett, that’s what you call a cookie – it's one of the best cookies you'll find in Sydney. If you feel like a simple brekky, go the extra-awesome scrambled eggs on toast.
