Fluffy pork buns. Silky, thin tofu skin. Beef tendon. The sweetest prawn dumplings. We've eaten 'em and now you will too
1 Fisherman's Wharf, Pyrmont
The yum cha with the best view in Sydney. Stare out over Blackwattle Bay while you're eating your pork and prawn dumplings or just ogle the million-dollar fish tank filled with lobsters, live prawns and pipis. Get there nice and early for a prime position and beat the queues.
2 Marigold, Sydney
It's Tetsuya Wakuda's favourite yum cha in Sydney (he loves the tripe here). Other highlights are the beef tendon, and prawn dumplings.
3 Sunny Harbour Seafood Restaurant, Hurstville
You'll find particularly good steamed-then-fried flat rice noodle filled with baby dried shrimp and, weirdly, sushi.
4 Sky Phoenix, Sydney
An excellent CBD choice, but don't try for it on a rainy day or school holiday - it's like a jungle in there. Hold off for a quiet mid-week lunch. We love the roasted and barbecued meats.
5 Golden Unicorn, Maroubra
Join the strange mix of Chinese nannas and surfies chowing down on seafood, good roast duck and pork dumplings.

A veritable nightmare: the closest you'll get to Fawlty Towers in Sydney: disorganised service, disorganised food.
