Go from sand to sandwich in one easy step
Balmoral
Bathers' Pavilion Kiosk
It's all the fun of eating at Bathers' Pavilion without the hefty price tag, nor the need to dress up. The big sell here is pre-made sambos, fresh juices and gelato.
The Bottom of the Harbour
This incredibly busy fish and chipper specialises in fish you don't see everyday. Their chips are excellent, too, after a swim.
Bondi
Pompei’s
What makes owner George Pompei’s restaurant so likeable is the fact it’s casual, yet the food is excellent. So while you may be eating a slice of pizza on the footpath followed by a couple of scoops of gelato, everything you’re consuming is top notch.
Beach Burrito Company
The deep-fried tacitos smack bang on the shores of Bondi Beach are the bomb.
Bondi Tratt
Peter Harvey is a fan; Wine Bar of the Year's sommelier Charles Leong is a fan. They must be doing something right at this super-casual Italian restaurant.
Gusto
Perch on one of the handful of wooden stools that line Hall Street and chow down on a breakfast roll.
Jeds
A casual café set in an old butcher shop serving the likes of potato cakes with bacon and excellent coffee, it's a quick stroll from the beach and a local favourite.
La Piadina
It's a mere five-minute walk from the shore. Sit at the bar under the window, take in the breeze and enjoy Italian piadinas - flat, fried tortilla-like snacks. The coffee's not bad either.
North Bondi Italian Food
Set on the north head of Bondi Beach, the restaurant has outdoor tables that get the view, the seabreezes and a little less of the loudness of the restaurant. Best of all, they don't mind if you're in your togs.
Bronte
Bronte Carlo
Their bacon and egg rolls may indeed be the business but anyone who has eaten here will tell you it's all about the scrambled eggs. Epic coffee, too.
Iggy's
There are lines out the door for the bread and even though they're not a sit-down cafe, you can't go past their sourdough.
Clovelly
Clovelly Hotel
A strong sea breeze and glimpses of the ocean go down a treat. So do the regular live music, family vibe and well-poured beer. You'll be fighting for the outdoor seats of an afternoon, but keep pushing - this is what this seaside pub's all about.
Out of the Blue
Folks line up all the way down the street for their burger with the lot. This little fish caff is easily accessible from both Coogee and Clovelly beaches.
Coogee
Churrasco
All you can eat Brazilian-style meat on swords. What more can we tell you? Don't fill up on bread or salad: stick to the meat.
Erciyes
Legendary carrot and beetroot dips and life-saving pides are the order of the day at this beachside Turkish joint. Order the eggplant and add sausage. You won't be sorry.
Freshwater
Pilu Kiosk
Wander off one of Sydney's most secluded and stunning beaches and right into a chocolate milkshake and suckling pig sandwich.
Manly
Bacino Bar
Fantastic coffee smack bang on the Corso where you can wander straight in for a ristretto in your budgie smugglers.
Chat Thai
You'll find this branch of Chat Thai in the mall near the ferries. Their big thing at the Manly shop is noodles but their ultra-spicy salads are also worth a nudge.
In Situ
Cool, breezy courtyard café by day, atmospheric, classy, candlelit cocktail lounge by night - this is a great all-round Manly venue. Not that you'd hear the locals saying that - they'd rather keep it on the down-low so they can still get a table.
Nielsen Park
Nielsen Park Kiosk
It seems to constantly be under new management but one thing you can be assured of here is the casual atmosphere. Swimming costumes are welcomed and they do a snail pastry par excellence.
Narabeen
Mexicano
It's about as close as eating in the sea as you're going to get. And it's some of the best Mexican in Sydney, to boot.
