Black Star Pastry

Don't leave this excellent Newtown patisserie without having a pie – beautifully tender hunks of braised lamb shank with red wine and vegies captured in feather-light pastry.277 Australia St, Newtown, 2042. (02 9557 8656). 


Central Baking Depot

Steak pie $4.80

Oh, the joys to be found at CBD. Whether you're a sweet freak or all about the savoury, you'll find it at this inner-city baking haven. Love their pies and sausage rolls. 37–39 Erskine St, Sydney 2000. (02 9290 2229).   


Harry's Café de Wheels

Tiger $5.30

Harry's might just be the last bastion of pure Sydney dining. Sitting on the waters' edge of town with a Tiger (a meat pie topped with mash, peas and gravy) is Sydney to its bootstraps. Cowper Wharf Rd, Woolloomooloo 2011. (02 9357 3074).  


Pie Face

Tiny pie $2.25

What could possibly be more charming on this great green earth than a tiny pie? Nothin', that's what. And at a mere $2.25 a pop, you can afford to eat a few. Locations across Sydney (visit Pie Face).
