It's Leichhardt's most popular cheap red sauce joint, where lines spill onto the curb for their pasta as well as their excellent gelato. 169 Norton St, Leichhardt 2040. (02 9560 9981). 

Doughboy
Margherita $13

An inner-westie and inner-eastie favourite, Doughboy's just opened in Petersham. Pizza for all! Doughboy Abbotsford, Doughboy Bondi, Doughboy Maroubra, Doughboy Newtown, Doughboy Petersham, Doughboy Potts Point, Doughboy Randwick. (02 9550 9988). 

La Piadina
Smoked ham piadina $10

Thin, slightly scorched flat bread is made from dough that's rolled out super-thin, spread out on a hotplate. An individual serve is enough even if you're super-hungry. 106 Glenayr Ave, Bondi 2026. (02 9300 0160). 

La Tana
Serve of cheese croquettes and a spritz $19

What you'll find on the paper menu in front of you and on the specials board can vary dramatically, so go with the flow. Pizza e birra Sundays $24

Every Sunday evening there's a pizza and beer night where you can order a pizza plus a beer or wine for $24. Great antipasti, too, if you fork out the extra dosh. 21 Hickson Rd, Walsh Bay 2000. (02 9247 4444).
