David Jones Food Hall
Grab a glass of wine and a selection of cheeses from the cheese counter and take a load off. Sure, it may not be a specialised room filled with cheese-friendly vapours, but it's a very pleasant way to top off a Thursday night shop.

Formaggi Ocello
Three words for you: Cheese. Wedding. Cake. Yes, it is exactly what you think it is and no, it won't stink out the room. That's not all they do: Formaggi Ocello specialise in Italian cheeses and often hold cheese and wine pairing nights – perfect if you're cheese-blind. There's a really large range of fresh cheeses such as buffalo mozzarella and burrata, not to mention all the reggiano you can swallow. And for the cherry on the (cheese) cake, Formaggi Ocello have a liquor license. There's a wine list available as well as an entire shelf of beers for you to choose from.

GPO Cheese and Wine
Not only can you purchase cheese here, but you can try before you buy in GPO's dedicated cheese and wine room, where they specialise in matching both. You'll find an exceptional range of wines by the glass and half-bottle and their cheese range is impressive, including Holy Goat - a soft goat's cheese that's ripe to the point of lewd. Alternately, try one of GPO's cheese and wine flights ranging from $30–$33 for three different cheeses with matched wines.

Jones the Grocer
A dedicated fromagerie in each Jones the Grocer store meansthere's no excuse to not have cheese in your life. Not sure how to choose? There's a team of experts on hand to walk you through it. Try a cheese platter in the cafe before you buy or take the plunge and go fromage crazy.

Simon Johnson
Expensive copper and luxury breadsticks may be one part of the Simon Johnson brand, but it's the cheese room in the Pyrmont store that we're loopy about. The cool glass room is filled with jars of individual mustard fruits and piled high with cheeses from all over the globe, including an amazing range of English cheddars. Each member of staff is thoroughly cheese-trained and happy to give you taste tests of anything. Make sure to pick up some dried muscatels and a walnut roll to go with your selection.
