The best, brightest and tastiest in Sydney restaurants
The inaugural Time Out Sydney Food Awards celebration, held at Ms G’s on Monday 19 August, was a rambunctious affair. A party 130-strong made up of award winners and industry heavyweights squished into the Potts Point hotspot clinking glasses and drinking yuzu slushies, Little Creatures beers, Pipsqueak cider and wines by Eden Road.
Time Out’s awards celebrated the tastemakers, rock’n’rollers, cage rattlers, and masters of the Sydney food scene, refl ected in awards such as Best Young Talent and Best Casual Diner. Chefs Dan Hong and Jowett Yu impressed party-goers with their incredible canapés including cheeseburger spring rolls, crisp prawl balls with yuzu mayo, Vietnamese steak tartare on prawn crackers and bo ssam – roast pork belly with fresh kimchi and fresh-shucked oysters served in a lettuce leaf cup. And for dessert? Bite-size pieces of Mars Bar slice topped with passionfruit marshmallow.
Guests took home grab-bags filled with Adriano Zumbo macarons, Sonoma sourdough, Pepe Saya butter, Vella Nero Coffee and Ms G’s drink vouchers. But none of this would have been possible without the help of our great sponsors Merivale, Little Creatures Brewing beer, Pipsqueak Cider, Positively Wellington Tourism, Lilydale Chicken, Vella Nero Coffee Couture, Fraser and Hughes, and Eden Road Wines. See you again in 2012!
