Enjoyed a great Friday evening meal in this New Rose Bay Thai restaurant on the site of the old Cafe Bondi. Food was very interesting presentation. Attentive, friendly, efficient service. Reasonable price compare with food quality.

Couldnt agree more. Having spent 6months in Thailand, I know Thai food. There are very few restaurants in Sydney which produce food like this and for $8 at lunch who can match this? They make their chicken stock from scratch (check out the chicken feet sticking out of boiling cauldrons), all of the crew are from BKK. One of the cooks left and set up another Thai right next to the Ancient Brittan pub. It's also really good, you cant go past Wok on Thai's chicken satay, beef salad and the Penang curry is incredible. We eat there at least twice a week.

I think the article is supposed to be about the best 'new' Thai restaurant.....98/99 doesn't qualify.

um none of these fancy spancy places come even close to the food made by Thai on Wok @ Glebe on Glebe Point Road. Simple, unpretentious, consistently good since opening in 1998/99. Tell me about any Thai restaurant in this town that can afford to shut its doors for an entire month and fly its staff back to Thailand every year? Thai on Wok is where Thai resturant owners go to eat. I used to see the Wok on Inn (Balmain) crew eating at Thai on Wok all the time. Unbelievable food for unbelievable prices without the pretentious that spoils so many dining experiences in Sydney. No overdone wood paneling. Just hot, fast (very fast to serve) food. Top dishes: Masaman Beef. Soft light but field with depth. The beef is just so flavoursome and tender. Tom Yum Soups (any but the seafood one is great). So well balanced, delicate but filled with so many flavours. Pad Thai (ok its been done to death but the Beef Pad Thai with juicy fresh capsicum is to die for. The sauce is just right.
