Vella Nero

Try 12-hour cold-drip coffee at this top city cafe

First published on . Updated on 9 Dec 2011.
As the weather warms up, and you feel like a cool twist on your daily caffeine hit, Vella Nero comes to the rescue with their 12-hour cold-drip coffee options.

Cold-drip coffee is an incredibly smooth, intense, full-bodied black coffee that has been extracted over an extensive 12 hours using ice-cold water through specialised apparatus from Japan. The process results in a natural and subtly sweet nectar – served on the rocks, short or sparkling.

Vicky Young, resident roaster at Vella Nero, selects varying blends and single estate/single origin coffees to offer through her Clarence Street café, which is proving quite a treat to customers. “The cold-drip style extraction completely transforms the cup, highlighting different nuances of the beans," she says. "It’s a nice option for those wanting to change up their day and is a refreshing option particularly with summer around the corner.”

The Hario Cold Drip apparatus and award-winning coffee range are available from the Vella Nero e-boutique: www.vellanero.com.au

VENUE INFO:

Vella Nero's coffee credentials are obvious the moment you walk in. They come in the form of 'Bella' who stands sentry at their Clarence Street headquarters - she's big, broad, strong-smelling, hard grinding and sparkling with lascivious intent... she's their on-premises roaster. From Bella's guts spring six Arabica-dominated blends but our pick is their award-winning, super-smooth, soft-punching Signature Blend.
