Glebe, that saucy temptress of the inner west has added another very good reason to visit, or heck, just move in already. Two Peas is the creation of two former Jamie's Italian staffers. It's a sweet, local café that does a cracking fish and chips, lamb shanks and gooey chocolate puddings and house-baked muffins that will draw you in off the street like some sort of dessert siren.

This place is Just. So. Bad. So Bad. Service that moves at a truly glacial pace, awful food and inexcusably high prices for what you get. We (two people) waited for just under ten minutes to have our order taken, despite the place being basically empty, and despite the waiter having greeted us when we first walked in. In the end, my friend got up and ordered at the counter. The food then took another twenty-five minutes to arrive. Which isn’t that long for a crowded café on a weekend, but this was a weekday morning and we were two of only four people in the place! There were two chefs in the kitchen! What were they doing!? Baffling. Then the food. I ordered poached eggs and bacon on toast. The bacon was barely cooked, and coated in a thin film of cold, gooey fat. The toast was not so much toast as soggy bread. The eggs were ok, but poached eggs are no good to me without, like, anything to put them on. My friend ordered tomatoes, feta and spinach on hash browns, and has this to say “the hash browns were acceptable but I could’ve made better ones at home in less time” and “it certainly wasn’t worth $13”. The less said about the sad portions of tomatoes, spinach and feta the better. All the food was cold. They seem to care more about the provenance of their food (free-range, ethically produced) than they do the happiness of their customers. There are at least 4 other better (and cheaper!) cafes within walking distance of this place so there’s no reason to waste your money here.
