A good sourdough loaf is an art and never more so than at this organic bakery, where owners Chris and Chrissy Chamberlain draw their recipes from the 17th and 18th centuries… and earlier (try the 13th century fruit loaf – so good it’ll go down in history). Using unbleached flour, sea salt, water and a little starter, their ‘classic white’ is a marvel, so don’t even get us started on the angora honey and lavender, roast beetroot or olive and rosemary varieties – all chewy yet yielding, delicate yet robust, and addictive to the final crumb.
