Time Out Sydney

See Sydney from every angle at this sky-high, revolving bar

O Bar is a place of many textures and a thousand different angles. The outer ring of the 47th floor of Australia Square revolves very slowly, so that over the course of a round of drinks your view constantly changes by degrees, making sure you see Sydney from all sides. It’s an elegant set that are drinking and eating up here, and you might have to wait for a table in the lounge area, but once you’re settled on a gold velvet armchair, or on the black suede and leather couches, table service ensures you get to kick back and take it all in. It’s also likely that they come to you because you’re in danger of your seat revolving out of sight and proving trickier to locate than you might expect. There is a minimum spend policy, which is not unusual among the loft bars dotted around the CBD – it’s a bar, not a look out – and unless you order beer, one drink will get you over the line. You can spend a whole lot of money on bottles of Champagne up here, and there’s a seasonal cocktail list – but we’re dropping our cash on the crisp and summery Rockford Alicante rosé. It probably won’t be your regular Friday night haunt, but when you feel like being a tourist in your own city, a glass of wine at a great height is a bit of fun.
