Sports inspired separates get a sophisticated makeover on day one of Fashion Week

First published on 30 Apr 2012. Updated on 8 May 2012.

Last year Gary told Time Out about his plans to venture away from jersey and into colour, prints and leather, and he certainly made a graceful transition with his Fractured Appearance collection at MBFWA today.

Drawing on summer’s massive colour blacking craze, Bigeni pared it down, sticking to a colour palette of camel, black, turquoise, tangerine and cobalt accented with four colourful prints. The wearable separates drew on sportswear inspired silhouettes, with the classic raglan t-shirt getting a mature makeover in an orange and camel silk and a turquoise and caramel knit.

Classic tailored shirts and pants were spiced up with clashing colourful confetti prints and geometric blue squares. Leather panelling also added texture and accented simple silk dresses, blouses and playsuits. The look was completed with ladylike cat eye sunglasses from Specs Addict, slick ponytails and red lips.
