Day four of MBFWA opened with New Generation 1, a group show composed of up-and-coming Sydney Designers
The looks were vast and varied but chic was definitely this morning’s signature style.
The debut collection from Collecting Pretty Boys opened with an avant-garde mixture of flowing prints and laced up leather. The successful marriage of ethereal watercolours with the skin hugging leather made for a unique first outing.
Next up was the fresh fare of Elliatt whose first look, a black and white structured mini-dress overlaid luxe cape, set the elegance meter skyrocketing. Time Out watched the front row grin as the collection’s muted and chic beginnings evolved into a playful, 60s inspired romp, combining lush florals with block yellows and greens.
In a show marked by its mix of prints the stand out had to be Kristi Rose’s art deco take on the iconic bird of paradise flower. Set against a black background, the print’s yellows, blues and greens popped.
Ultimate accessory has to go to Tovah’s super-cool leather visors in tan, black and beige. Matched with the young designer’s multicolored apparel, the hats imbued the collection with an haute-couture feel.
The show closed with a sultry collection from Kahlo. The designer’s leatherwork was impressive indded, especially the effortlessly cool leather t-shirts.
No doubt there are more fabulous things to come from these bright young things.
